Pioneering affordable housing developer Meta Housing Corp. is seizing the opportunities presented by Mayor’s Executive Directive 1, embarking on one of its most significant projects to date. Recently, the West Los Angeles-based developer submitted an application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, outlining plans for a new apartment complex located at 21300 W. Oxnard St. in the Warner Center neighborhood.
The project would include the construction of two buildings comprising a total of 301 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, along with parking for 229 vehicles. All 301 apartments in this project will be designated as 100 percent affordable housing, with 10 percent of the total units reserved for very low-income households.
With designs from AC Martin, the project envisions a pair of contemporary seven- and eight-story structures, with an exterior predominantly composed of painted stucco.
The proposed development is organized into two distinct phases. The initial phase, featuring 173 apartments, will be situated in the southern section of the site. In contrast, the second phase will consist of 128 units and will front Oxnard Street to the north. This phased approach ensures efficient construction and a thoughtful integration into the existing neighborhood.
Meta Housing was founded in Los Angeles in 1993 and has developed more than 7,900 residential units. The company develops a mix of affordable housing developments, including senior housing, fully affordable housing, supportive housing and more.
The company completed two other affordable housing developments in the Los Angeles area this year. According to information from the firm, the earlier half of the year saw the completion of LAMP Lodge, an 81-unit affordable housing community in Skid Row. In the Sylmar neighborhood, a 56-unit affordable housing community in Silva Crossing also opened.
