The Campus at Horton, formerly the Horton Plaza shopping mall, is undergoing a significant transformation into a multi-faceted hub. Stockdale Capital Partners, spearheading the redevelopment, has unveiled plans for two 40-story apartment towers.
According to a report from the San Diego Business Journal, the first tower, which would occupy the former Macy’s department store location within the mall, is scheduled to commence construction in 2025. This tower will feature 518 apartments alongside 12,600 square feet of ground-level retail space along Broadway Circle. Additionally, it will house a seven-story parking facility accommodating 616 vehicles.
A second tower, situated on G Street, will add 332 more apartments, bringing the total number of residential units at the location to 850.
The development also would feature an array of amenities, including a rooftop pool, gym, clubhouse and a dog park.
The larger Campus at Horton development will span more than one million square feet and is intended to be home to a mix of life science, office and retail tenants, according to a project website. In August, Stockdale Capital Partners announced several leases at the site, with new tenants including Sprouts, Salon Republic, Shake Shack, Sweetgreen and Studio 3.
“The interest in Downtown San Diego remains as strong as ever and we remain committed to delivering a thriving mixed-use experience that provides a preeminent retail offering, top-tier life science labs and highly-amenitized office,” said Daniel Michaels, Managing Partner of Stockdale Capital Partners, at the time of the announcement. “Horton is woven into the fabric of the San Diego community and deserves to be a shining beacon to everything great about this city. We have more tenants to announce shortly that will only add to these fantastic names.”
