Houston-based Hines has bought the roughly 1,476-acre Brown Ranch straddling the Tarrant-Parker county line on Fort Worth's western edge, where it plans about 3,800 single-family homes over 12 years, returning to North Texas land development 18 months after selling its Texas community portfolio to Starwood.
